Retail media questions, answered straight.
The questions a brand your size should ask before hiring anyone — about pricing, fit, what the work involves, and how it gets measured. If yours isn’t here, just ask; a senior human will answer.
How much does a retail media agency cost?
Ours is published. Launch is $1,000 a month, Growth $1,500, Full Flight $2,500, with onboarding at one month’s retainer and an optional performance kicker capped at one annual retainer. The figures and what sits in each tier are on the pricing page, not behind a demo request. Advertising spend is separate and paid to the platforms.
Is my brand too small for a retail media agency?
Almost certainly not — small and regional is who we built this for. If the big agencies with $1M minimums won’t quote you, you’re exactly the brand we want. We’re honest when it’s not a fit, but that’s rarely about size.
Which retail media networks do you cover?
Amazon Ads, Walmart Connect and Instacart Ads, plus the grocery networks most agencies skip — Kroger Precision Marketing, Albertsons Media Collective, Hy-Vee RedMedia, AD Retail Media and Target Roundel. Which ones we recommend depends on where you already have shelf and velocity, and we will tell you if a network is not worth standing up yet.
What does a retail media agency actually do?
Three things: run your paid placements and retail-media advertising, build and tighten your digital shelf (pages, imagery, claims, reviews), and give you one plain-English monthly report tied to product moved. Done for you, not handed back as homework.
How do you measure retail media results?
On platform-attributed sales — the product moved that Instacart, Walmart, and Amazon record natively. It’s the number the retailers themselves stand behind, so there’s no vanity-metric fog and nothing you need an analyst to decode.
Do I have to sign a long contract?
No lock-in gimmicks. We earn the relationship month to month by moving your product. We’ll always tell you where the wins are — and if we ever stop being worth it, you shouldn’t have to fight a contract to leave.
Who works on my account, and are they senior?
You get senior attention and real ownership on your account, start to finish. When you email hello@upcpilot.com, a senior human answers — not a ticket queue, and not the intern.
What's a “free shelf check”?
You tell us where you sell; we take a look at your shelf and come back with the fastest, cheapest wins we see — in plain English, with an honest price. No obligation, no pitch deck. It’s the easiest way to find out if we’re a fit.
What is a retail media agency?
A retail media agency plans, buys and manages advertising inside retailers’ own ad networks, such as Instacart Ads, Walmart Connect, Amazon Ads, Kroger Precision Marketing and Target Roundel, and reports on the sales those retailers attribute to the spend. It differs from a general digital agency because the media, the product page and the sales data all live inside the retailer, which makes the work part media buying and part digital shelf management.
What is the difference between a retail media agency and a retail media platform?
A platform sells you software and you supply the people to run it. An agency supplies the people. Both are legitimate. The question is whether you have someone whose job it is to log in every day, because a dashboard nobody opens is a subscription rather than a strategy.
